The Accreditation in Public Relations credential certifies a practitioner’s ambition, professionalism, ethics, and principles in the field of public relations.
The National Capital Chapter boasts one of the largest amounts of APR certified members in the nation, with nearly 140 certifications, including 16 APR Fellows.
The program is about furthering the professional by keeping them relevant, resourceful, and inspired in the field of public relations. The APR Committee focuses on recruiting local PRSA members who are interested in beginning the accreditation process, or members interested in mentoring future APRs and organizing the committee for the year.
APR+M
Our chapter also has a number of Accreditation in Public Relations + Military Communication (APR+M), which improves the military public affairs practice, encourages ongoing professional development and establishes a standard of knowledge within the public affairs community that is transferable to civilian work.
With either an APR or APR+M, Jump Start programs are held throughout the year to build interest in the coursework required to become certified.
The APR:
- Asserts professional competence
- Communicates professional expertise, plus personal and professional dedication and values
- Reflects progressive public relations industry practices and high standards
