August 2019 President’s Message by Stacy Hope
Dear Colleagues,
Most people think of August as the sleepy month in our area, where Congress shuts down, locals leave town for vacation, and the pace slows dramatically until after Labor Day. Not for PRSA-NCC!
Last week, the chapter’s board of directors was pleased to swap our usual monthly board meeting for a late summer social, designed to welcome our newest members – new graduates, recent transplants, and more – to the Washington, D.C. area. Nearly 100 attendees mixed, mingled, and explored the many volunteer and professional development opportunities that our chapter has to offer.
Tomorrow, we’ll announce this year’s finalists for our annual Thoth Awards, which celebrate the exceptional creativity and ability of public relations professionals in the Washington, D.C. area. Please join us at our awards luncheon on September 27; early-bird tickets are available now. Prices go up on September 14, so make sure you get your ticket today!
Looking ahead, over the next few weeks we’ll be hosting several professional development programs to enhance our members’ already considerable expertise, and don’t forget to sign up for our Newseum farewell tour scheduled for September 20 – tickets are going fast.
I hope you are able to use this month to rest and recharge. Stay tuned for other exciting announcements coming your way from PRSA-NCC in September!
Stacy Hope
