DC’s Annual Premier Communication Awards Program
WHAT ARE THE NATIONAL CAPITAL EXCELLENCE IN COMMUNICATION AWARDS?
The Public Relations Society of America’s National Capital Chapter (PRSA NCC) sponsors its annual, local awards competition to recognize and reward outstanding achievement in external communications and public relations, and to encourage continued excellence in the field.
The ECAs recognize the most exceptional, strategic public relations programs and components developed and produced in the Greater Washington, D.C. area. Achievements are recognized in numerous categories, including:
- Program categories that celebrate the best PR campaigns
- Component categories that highlight top accomplishments in PR tactics
- The prestigious Institute of Public Relations Research, Measurement and Evaluation Award (Entries in this category will be judged by the Institute for Public Relations)
- Agency and communication Team Awards
THE EVENT
ECA winners will be announced at the upcoming virtual event, headlined by TV and podcast host Sarah Fraser. Inductees will also be announced for the National Capital PR Hall of Fame. Registration is free for all. Both PRSA NCC members and non-members are encouraged to attend to celebrate the excellent work that has been completed this year.
This year, the National Capital Hall of Fame will be inducting two industry leaders into our distinguished Hall of Fame. PRSA NCC is pleased to honor Lisa Osborne Ross, Edelman’s U.S. Chief Operating Officer and president of Edelman’s Washington D.C. office and Gemma Puglisi, award-winning media strategist, former journalist, author, practitioner and full-time assistant professor of Public Communication at American University (AU).

The event will be followed by a virtual concert after party with a special local D.C.-area musical guest, Brian Johnson. The concert will start up immediately following the event, beginning around 5:50 – 6 p.m. ET. Brian is a native Northern Virginia singer, songwriter, bartender and screenplay writer with a style akin to City and Colour, John Mayer, Jason Mraz and Zack Brown. There’s a little something for everyone to enjoy so be sure to hang around and keep the celebration going while also supporting the local D.C. arts and music community!
Sarah Fraser, TV host, podcast host of “The Sarah Fraser Show” and former radio personality, will be this year’s emcee! Sarah appears weekly on FOX 5’s number one rated “Good Day DC” where she discusses lifestyle and millennial ‘Tuesday Talker’ stories. Sarah was also the host of “The Sarah, Ty and Mel Show” on D.C.’s 107.3. Previously, Sarah spent her mornings co-hosting the D.C. metropolitan area’s top-rated morning drive show among adults, which boasted more than 20 million listeners in the D.C. metro area and on iHeartRadio. As the former co-host of the enormously popular “The Kane Show” of HOT 99.5 (WIHT-FM), Sarah’s voice was heard through syndication on WZFT-FM in Baltimore, Maryland, WFLZ-FM in Tampa, Florida, KISS 107 FM in Cincinnati, Ohio, Radio Now 101.9 FM in Memphis, Tennessee and 98.9 Radio Now FM in Louisville, Kentucky. Additionally, Sarah hosted the popular “The Sarah Show” on HOT 99.5, which served as the mid-day lead in program to “The Ryan Seacrest Show.”
Sarah uses her platform to discuss social issues, particularly concerning women’s empowerment and minority-owned businesses. She dedicates her free time to several nonprofit organizations located in the District, Maryland and Virginia.
