Ethical decisions in public relations aren’t always black and white. In today’s rapidly changing communications landscape, it creates new questions about where responsibility lies and how communicators should respond.
Join a panel of communications professionals, industry leaders and legal experts for a thought-provoking conversation about navigating ethical challenges in today’s workplace. Using PRSA’s six core ethical principles — advocacy, honesty, expertise, independence, loyalty and fairness — as a foundation, panelists will share real-world experiences, discuss how they approached difficult decisions and explore what communicators can learn from those situations.
The conversation will examine some of the most pressing ethical issues facing communicators today, including the use of artificial intelligence, misinformation and disinformation, transparency when working with influencers and other third parties, and navigating pressure from executives or clients.
Panelists will also explore the intersection of ethics and law: When is something legally permissible but ethically questionable? What responsibility do communicators have for AI-generated content? And how can PR professionals effectively push back when a request from leadership puts credibility or ethical standards at risk?
Attendees will leave with different perspectives and practical approaches for recognizing ethical challenges, asking the right questions and making thoughtful decisions that protect credibility, strengthen trust and uphold the integrity of the profession.
For the APR, you will receive 0.5 CEU for Ethics. If you have a CAE, you will receive one CAE credit.
