National Capital Chapter

January 2019 President’s Message by Stacy Hope

Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of the 2019 PRSA-NCC leadership team, Happy New Year! It’s my pleasure and my privilege to serve as your incoming president, and to lead the accomplished group of professionals who are serving alongside of me as your board of directors.

2019 will be a year of changes for our chapter. In December 2018, we bid farewell to our longtime executive director, Sherri Core. For three decades, Sherri has been a dedicated supporter of our chapter and our profession. Her expertise and her insights will be greatly missed, but we wish her all the best in her well-deserved retirement.

Moving forward, our chapter will be supported by RMK Productions. Led by Reggie Kouba, RMK is a full-service, woman-owned association management and event planning company. For several years, Reggie and her team have worked with us to produce the annual Thoth Awards gala, and we’re pleased to welcome them as full-time members of the PRSA-NCC family.

In addition to working with RMK to ensure a smooth transition, this year’s board will look for new ways to add value for our members through enhanced professional development opportunities, networking events, and more. We are also planning to redevelop the PRSA-NCC website to better meet your needs and interests.

Finally, we’ll focus on expanding our chapter membership. As members, you are the most valuable asset we have when it comes to promoting the benefits of joining PRSA-NCC. Your personal stories are the key to inspiring future members–and future leaders–of our organization.

When I joined this chapter nearly 20 years ago, I was new to Washington and relatively new to our profession. In PRSA, I found a community of colleagues to whom I could turn for friendship, expertise, and advice. I hope you have too.

At any time, please feel free to contact me with questions or ideas, or if you’re just curious about opportunities to get the most from your PRSA membership. I can’t wait to hear from you!
