Advanced Academic Programs
Advanced Academic Programs (AAP) seeks a Program Coordinator to teach in and provide administrative support to the Communication program. The Program Coordinator position is a full-time, non-tenure-track, 12-month renewable faculty position with the academic title of Lecturer or Senior Lecturer. The Program Coordinator will have significant interaction/collaboration with the Program Director, Assistant Program Director, and other Program Coordinators; and will report to the Program Director for Communication. Of particular interest are candidates who have experience teaching and engaging students from diverse backgrounds. This position is expected to begin in March 2024. The Program Coordinator will have the following faculty and administrative responsibilities:
Academic Responsibilities
- Teaching six graduate courses per year, including the preparation for and time spent in the classroom (online or onsite)
- Advising students from diverse backgrounds
- Providing innovative leadership for curriculum design and new course development to ensure the growth and delivery of the programs
- University service
Administrative Responsibilities
- Participate in adjunct faculty hiring and development
- Assist in the admissions process
- Assist in the planning of onsite and/or remote events and seminars
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Communication or in a relevant field such as Journalism, Writing, and Media Studies
- One to three years of teaching experience online and/or at the graduate level
- One to three years of work experience within Communication fields, including but not limited to outside consulting or collaborative work within private, non-profit, and governmental organizations
- The ability to teach a wide variety of courses in the communication field
Preferred Qualifications
- Terminal degree in Communication or in a relevant field such as Journalism, Writing, and Media Studies;
- Four or more years of teaching experience online and/or at the graduate level
- Four or more years of work experience in the field
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with competing demands and multiple deadlines
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Experience managing a degree program
