June 2019 President’s Message by Stacy Hope

Dear Colleagues,

Earlier this month, at our June board meeting, members of your board of directors and committee leaders held a mid-year review of our chapter’s activities. I’m pleased to share that in the first five and a half months of 2019, PRSA-NCC welcomed more than 600 communicators to 16 professional development and networking events across the greater Washington, D.C. area. Through our programming, we continue to advance both the profession and the professional by ensuring that you, our members, have access to everything you need to enhance both your communications expertise and your industry connections.

We also completed a smooth transition to our new management company, RMK, and have realized substantial savings in terms of both staff time and budget as a result of streamlining many of our administrative processes. In May, we published the RFP for a redeveloped PRSA-NCC website, with an estimated launch date of November 2019. We’ve also initiated a strategic planning process, led by president-elect Lisa Kiefer, to carry our chapter from 2020-2022.

The months ahead look even more exciting. Mark your calendars for more great programming taking place in the second half of 2019: our Newseum Farewell Tour on September 20, which has already attracted PRSA members from as far away as Colorado; our annual Thoth Awards and Hall of Fame luncheon on September 27; several half-day and full-day professional development workshops; and more. You can find all of our upcoming programs on our events calendar.

As always, we welcome your comments on what we’ve accomplished so far this year, and your feedback on what we have planned for the future.

Stacy Hope
