National Capital Chapter

Member Spotlight: Susan Matthews Apgood

Q: Where do you work?

I have worked at 4media for four years. I sold my company, News Generation, in April of 2020 after starting it in 1997, and growing and running it for 22 years.

Q: How long have you been a PRSA member?

I have been a PRSA member since 2007. I was asked by that year’s president, Sandra Hannon, to serve on a committee. Then, I joined the board the following year and was on the board for 12 years. My favorite positions were professional development co-chair and treasurer.

Q: How has your career benefited from being a PRSA member?

I networked with the best in the business, and many of those fellow members and board members have become friends for life.

Q: What are you reading or listening to?

I run a book club for women business leaders, and right now we are reading The 5AM Club: Own Your Morning. Elevate Your Life by Robin Sharma. For fun, I am reading The Women, by Kristin Hannah.

Q: What excites you the most right now?

I have the amazing good fortune to be an adjunct professor at American University in the Kogod School of Business. Currently, I am teaching Business Ethics and Women in Organization Leadership. Having that experience makes me a better PR professional and a better mom every day.

Q: How other members can connect with you (e.g., LinkedIn link, PRSA Profile, etc.)

You can find me on Linked In
