November 2019 President’s Message by Stacy Hope

Dear Colleagues,

On November 13, 2019, I led the last PRSA-NCC board meeting of 2019, where we adopted a strategic plan to carry our chapter through the next three years. The plan—developed by a working group led by incoming president Lisa Kiefer—focuses on measurable objectives that will move our chapter forward in a way that reflects current industry trends and is scaled for the capabilities of the chapter’s current membership base and resources. It also updates our chapter’s mission statement, which now reads as follows:

“To support communications professionals in the Washington, D.C. area, by fostering collaboration, enhancing knowledge and skills, and creating connections through robust, innovative and inclusive educational, networking and professional growth opportunities.”

At the board meeting, we also voted to extend our contract with our association management company, RMK Productions. Over the past year, the team at RMK has consistently demonstrated excellence and efficiency in helping our chapter’s leadership team develop, implement, and improve the programs that serve our chapter members, and we look forward to continuing our relationship.

Finally, we welcomed our 2020 leadership team, many of whom were able to join us for the meeting. Next year’s board includes outstanding communicators representing agencies, associations, corporations, the energy industry, the government, the U.S. military, and NGOs, as well as independent practitioners.

However, the year isn’t over yet! Our last major initiative of 2019—the relaunch of our chapter website—will wrap in the next month. The fully responsive site will feature an improved design and user-friendly pathways for our members to find exactly the information they need to get the most out of their PRSA-NCC membership. Stay tuned for the official launch.
