November 2021 President’s Message
Dear NCC Members and Colleagues,
On Thursday, November 4, we held our premier awards program, the 53rd annual National Capital Excellence in Communication Awards (ECAs). Held virtually for the second year in a row, we welcomed more than 140 people to the event, more than doubled our sponsorship support from last year and doubled our revenue with donations going to the Bob Woodruff Foundation, an organization helping to support our nation’s veterans, service members and their families and co-founded by the evening’s emcee, communications advisor and best-selling author, Lee Woodruff. Coca Cola’s Global Chief of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Lori George Billingsley delivered our keynote address and urged attendees to find their passion and live with purpose and impact. In addition to celebrating the year’s best communications programs, campaigns and teams, we also inducted two outstanding local professionals, Ben Finzel, president and founder of RENEWPR, and Kate Perrin, founder and CEO of PRofessional Solutions, LLC, into the National Capital Public Relations Hall of Fame.
Those who registered for the event will have access to the recording and the platform for the next 30 days. Log in with your email and password, ECA2021. Additionally, anyone can watch the program complimentary via our on demand platform.
On Monday, we will announce the leaders who have been selected by our membership to serve on the 2022 board of directors. Our board of directors includes outstanding communicators from local agencies, associations, corporations, government entities, nonprofits, cutting edge digital companies and independent firms.
We look forward to announcing additional programming and news to wrap up 2021 and kick off 2022 soon.
Leading with integrity and passion,
Lauren Lawson-Zilai
