Long-Time Chapter Supporter PRofessional Solutions Closing its Doors
By Lauren Lawson-Zilai, President-Elect PRSA NCC, Senior Director of Public Relations/National Spokesperson, Goodwill Industries International

Kate Perrin is a familiar name in the D.C. communications industry. An American University grad, she founded PRofessional Solutions, LLC in 1994, the area’s only PR staffing agency, recognizing that “temp work” could focus on strategic thinking and situation analysis. A long-time sponsor and speaker for PRSA, Kate is also a former president of WWPR and founder of its PR Woman of the Year lunch, and a former board member of IABC-DC.
It is with mixed emotions to report that PRofessional Solutions is formally closing its doors in November. The agency benefited thousands of clients — including myself — placing them in positions in nonprofits, associations, government agencies and corporations.
Kate’s business partner, Melanie Jordan, joined the business three years after its founding, built relationships amongst the community, offered counseling to applicants and clients alike, introduced and managed technology for the company, and was Kate’s right hand for almost 25 years.
Countless PRSA NCC professionals are grateful to the duo for empowering, encouraging and teaching them about skills needed for the future of PR, as well as challenges and trends in the industry. We wish them future success.
