PRSA National Capital Chapter Statement on Coronavirus Disease 2019
Dear National Capital Chapter Members and Our Washington, D.C., Professional Communications Community:
The NCC Board of Directors and chapter leaders have been closely monitoring and discussing developments with the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak as it relates to upcoming events for the chapter.
Your health and safety is our top priority. At this time, we must uphold our responsibility to aid in the containment of the virus and protect members of our community to the fullest extent possible. Therefore, all in-person chapter events will be postponed for the next 30 days.
The Board will revisit a decision regarding events outside of 30 days as we learn more. Though, we do know at this time that our podcasting panel and Michael Smart media placements workshop (April 16 and 30, respectively) will also be postponed.
In the meantime, the chapter is considering events that could be moved to, or added, in a virtual format. We are committed to regular communication with you and will be in touch as soon as those and other decisions are made. All existing registrations for postponed events will be rolled over to the new date, and current registrants have the option to request a full refund if needed. Information about our events can be monitored at https://prsancc.org/prsa-ncc-events/.
These are uncertain times, with a situation that is still evolving rapidly. The health of one is determined by the health of another. It is our imperative as professional communicators and global citizens to be socially responsible, prudent, proactive and supportive as we navigate this together.
If you have any questions, please contact us any time at info@prsa-ncc.org.
